Some pre-wedding sessions are carefully planned. Others simply unfold, and that’s often where the magic happens. Daphne and Andrew’s pre-wedding shoot in Valletta was exactly that: relaxed, spontaneous, and full of small moments that turned into beautiful photographs.
We began the session in one of the quieter corners of Valletta near Boat Street, close to the harbour tunnel and the parking area. It’s not the first location people think of when imagining a romantic shoot, but that’s exactly what made it interesting. An empty car park, soft afternoon light, and a white van parked nearby created a surprisingly striking backdrop - minimal, urban, and full of character. Sometimes the most unexpected settings produce the most memorable images.
From there, we slowly made our way deeper into the streets of Valletta. Instead of rushing from spot to spot, we treated the session like a walk through the city, stopping whenever the light, architecture, or atmosphere felt right. The walls, narrow streets, and little corners of the city gave us endless possibilities. At one point we paused for a drink, allowing Daphne and Andrew to relax even more and simply enjoy the moment together. Those small pauses are often where the most natural photographs happen.
As the afternoon moved toward evening, we made our way back toward the sea for the final part of the shoot. To end the session, we opened a bottle of champagne and introduced something a little more playful — smoke bombs. The combination of the sea breeze, champagne celebration, and colourful smoke created a fun and cinematic ending to the day. There was plenty of laughter and one particular moment when Andrew turned slightly purple thanks to the smoke, which became an instant highlight of the session.
What I loved most about this shoot was how natural it felt. Nothing overly staged, nothing forced - just two people enjoying the experience together, exploring Valletta, sharing a drink, and celebrating the journey toward their wedding day.
Daphne and Andrew’s Valletta pre-wedding session was a perfect mix of spontaneity, laughter, and creativity. Tthe kind of session where ideas evolve naturally and every corner of the city becomes part of the story.
