Palazzo Parisio, formerly known as Scicluna PalacePalazzo Scicluna, and officially Palazzo Parisio and Gardens, is a 20th-century palace in Naxxar, Malta. On site was a hunting lodge built in 1733 by Paolo Parisio, and was used as a summer or permanent residence, barracks and a college, before being acquired by the Marquis Scicluna in 1898.

General information

Located in the heart of picturesque Naxxar, this stately home is a place of wonder that begs to be explored. When visiting Palazzo Parisio you will discover the intricate nuances of Malta’s historic nobility and their enchanting way of life. The Palazzo offers great insight and inspiration with its myriad of different rooms and areas from the grand Ballroom, the detailed Family Chapel or the fabulous walled Gardens and Orangery.

Back in the 1700's, Palazzo Parisio started life as a hunting lodge, but the ambition and vision of the Parisio and Scicluna families saw its evolution into the exquisite Palazzo of today. At one point the Marquis built the present palace between 1900 and 1907. Its architecture is composed of a modest Art Nouveau front and back façades and a Sicilian Baroque interior. In the 21st century, Marie Christianne Scicluna who partially owns the palace took the initiative to renovate and revive the property.

Today, Palazzo Parisio and its surrounding gardens have been wonderfully restored and are open to the public. The Palazzo offers fine dining, perfectly served afternoon tea to bespoke events. The palace and its gardens are now open to the public named as ‘’Palazzo Parisio and Gardens’’, and are rented for wedding venues. Two restaurants are also located within the palace.

The Palazzo has two main areas:

  • The Palace area - complete with sumptuous mirrored gilded salons, lofty halls lined with Maltese and Italian art and frescoes, fine dining rooms and a dramatic marble staircase.

  • The Garden area - The Italianate walled gardens, offer a kaleidoscope of colour and scent all year round from every corner of the world.

Photographically the location is amazing for a day wedding in view of the large windows and chandeliers which are available in the Palace area. The garden also makes for a nice contrast with the

The palace is scheduled as a Grade 1 property, while its elevated pathway is a Grade 2. It is also listed on the National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands. The palace was used as a filming location in a variety of movies, including Cutthroat Island and The Count of Monte Cristo (2002 film)

REAL WEDDINGS AT THE VENUE:

The simplicity and class of this wedding was very particular and it allowed me to have time to take some real images with the Alexandra and Wyn which travelled from Germany for their wedding here in Malta. Everything was magical and elegant, yet simple.

Justine and Malcolm tied the knot in a beautiful civil wedding ceremony at the stunning Palazzo Parisio, located in the heart of Naxxar, Malta. The venue was the perfect backdrop for their special day, with its breathtaking gardens and intricate interiors.
