Wedding Venues in Malta - my top 10 recommendations

As your wedding photographer I want to make your life easier. I have experienced a vast number of wedding locations and can share the best locations here in Malta for your wedding ceremony. In this guide I summarize my favourite wedding venue locations based on my experience as a wedding photographer.


TOP WEDDING VENUES IN MALTA FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

1. Razzett l-Abjad 
Ir-Razzett L-Abjad, set in the heart of Malta, is a typical Maltese farmhouse and is perfect for a couple looking for a traditional Maltese culture within their wedding. This 200-year-old building is abundant in character and tradition with a reception area that is cut in rock and which formed part of the original stables. The locations makes for a rustic experience with both an indoor and outdoor venue, this venue proves to be very flexible.

2. Palazzo Parisio

Palazzo Parisio is located in Naxxar and used to be a hunting lodge built in 1733 by Paolo Parisio. The palace includes a glamorous Ballroom, a grand stairway and beautiful gardens which enable this place to be a very elegant location for a wedding day.

For those who prefer a grander and more opulent venue for their wedding in Malta, Palazzo Parisio is an ideal option. This 18th-century palace boasts of elegant interiors, intricate details, and a beautiful garden that can accommodate up to 500 guests. Located in Naxxar - one of Malta's most picturesque villages - Palazzo Parisio offers a unique blend of history, luxury, and romance.

The palace has several indoor and outdoor venues that provide an ideal setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The ballroom is the largest indoor venue with high ceilings, marble floors, ornate decorations, and crystal chandeliers. The garden is a stunning outdoor space with fountains, statues, flowers, trees, and a pond that creates an enchanting atmosphere for romantic events.

In San Pawl tat-Targa, one finds the colonial style Villa Arrigo. Having built up a tradition of fine weddings and settings for prestigious events over the last 18 years, it is constantly being enriched. The villa also features magnificent gardens for a wonderful outdoor setup.

5. The Phoenicia Hotel

The Phoenicia Malta, is an iconic hotel which is surrounded by gorgeous landscaped gardens and located just outside the vibrant capital of Valletta on the edge of the city’s 16th Century bastions. The Phoenicia Malta can be considered as a national treasure and has a variety of classically refined interiors, alongside fresh outdoor spaces.

The venue offers a variety of different areas, such as the The Grand Ballroom, The Maryanski Porch and the The Bastion Pool area - making this venue one of my favourites.

6. Upper Barakka Gardens (and the Saluting battery)

Another popular choice for garden weddings in Malta is Valletta Harbour View Gardens. This venue boasts calming country scenes and views of the historic Castello Zamittello castle and old bastions. The gardens are filled with olive trees, fountains, and flowers, creating a romantic atmosphere that is perfect for weddings.

The Saluting Battery is located in Valletta and provides breathtaking views . It was constructed in the 16th century by the Order of Saint John, on or near the site of an Ottoman battery from the Great Siege of Malta. The Saluting battery has amazing views of the 3 cities so if you’re looking for an open-air wedding with amazing views of the Mediterranean sea and loads of culture, it’s the perfect wedding venue for your needs.

Valletta Harbour View Gardens can accommodate up to 200 guests and offers several different areas where couples can exchange their vows or host their reception. There is a pergola area that overlooks the harbor, as well as a courtyard area that is surrounded by greenery.

7. Villa Bighi

The 17th century neo-classical Villa Bighi is located in the Malta's South Eastern village of Kalkara, which forms part of the inner harbour area. The building’s unique surroundings and views are a perfect backdrop for those who would like to enjoy the breathtaking views of Valletta, Fort St Angelo and the Grand Harbour whilst entertaining your guests at the Bighi Esplanade and Gardens.

The elaborate Ballroom with its Murano chandeliers and parquet floor as well as the elegantly decorated Presidents hall, the Princess Room and the Dining Room are perfect for anyone interested in getting married in Valletta.

The Grand Harbour Terrace commands magnificent views of the Grand Harbour. It is situated in the lower part of Valletta and forms part of the Mediterranean Conference Centre. The venue has spectacular views of the Grand Harbour and the quaint Three Cities for everyone to enjoy.

One may not know that the Heritage Malta offers its locations also for weddings. These include the magnificient National Museum of Archology in Mdina, Fort St. Elmo and Fort St. Angelo to name a few.

The Sheer bastion is small as a venue, however if you have a destination wedding with a limited number of guests it will serve you well. The venue also has an indoor area, which can serve as a backup.
